Ayurveda translates to the science of life in Sanskrit. Its roots are intimately intertwined with its' sister science, Yoga. The two sciences have been practiced for over 5,000 years in India. Ayurveda & Yoga are two faces of the same coin. Ayurveda is an elementally based science that serves as a guide to allow us to gain a deeper understanding of our individual makeup. It does so by honing in on the inherent elemental qualities that govern all of creation. By making lifestyle choices that are aligned with our elemental make up, we remember our true nature as spirit, and from there we are able to create the most optimal environment for self-healing to take place within the body.
Mónica is 200hr Ayurvedic Hatha Yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Health Counselor. She currently practices Ayurvedic Medicine at Hamsa Ayurveda & Yoga Center and teaches at various yoga studios in Chicago. Mónica is a classically trained dancer, fire and flow artist and loves infusing principles from different trainings in her classes. As a dancer Mónica finds movement to be a medicine of sorts that serves as a portal to awakening the innate healer within all of us. Her Ayurvedic training has taught her to view the world through the lens of its inherent elemental quality. The inner transformation and connectivity that can be experienced through surrendering to the practice of Yoga and tapping into the remembrance of Ayurveda, is one Mónica wishes to share with all.
